Doing Chores Is Good Therapy

I encourage residents to help with the chores, if it is something they are able and willing to do. This allows them to feel needed, provides an activity that is looked forward to, and can lead to a routine that keeps them in their comfort zone. At the same time, they get some exercise and accomplish a familiar task. Resident Charlyne helps fold clothes as one of her nightly routines. (Her reward is a dish of her favorite vanilla ice cream.) Above, Resident Hein assists her with folding a blanket.
